Inside, the PRIME series really brings the heat, equipped with the Specna Arms DarkMatter Brushless motor straight out of the box.A brushless motor isa rare thing to find pre-installed in anything but a Bolster Tuned customAEG, though the good stuff doesn’t end here! Also inside is a 6.02mm tightbore inner barrel,Specna’s latest Magnus™ HOP-up chamber and Helium™ HOP-up bucking, 16:1 high-speed CNCgears, a steelquick change spring guide, 8mm J-CAGE bearings, CNCaluminium cylinder group parts, CNCaluminium nozzle, a reinforced tappet plate and a reinforced polymer piston with a full rack of steel teeth. This truly is a platform you’ll never need to upgrade!
Starting at the front of this powerhouse of a platform, we find a pre-installed bird cage-style flash hider. This is very much the industry standard when it comes to muzzle devices, being present on most Airsoft M4/AR-15 platforms straight out of the box. The muzzle device can be removed by twisting it clockwise, revealing the 14mm CCW threading underneath. This is the most common threading and will accept a plethora of aftermarket tracer units and suppressors.
The handguard of the SA-P14 is a lesser-seen style, CNCmachined from aluminium andoffering a full-length20mm Picatinny rail at the 12 o’clock position anda short 20mm rail at 6 o’clock, ideal for mounting a bipod or tactical flashlight. M-LOK slots are present at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions, with functionalQD sling sockets at the front on each side. Pre-installed on the 6 o’clock M-LOK slots, we are treated to a Specna Arms SAAS Angled Foregrip, a comfortable, angled grip design with another QD sling point built in.
The upper rail mates seamlessly with the receiver rail, allowing for optical sight setups of any length to be mounted, including red dot sight and magnifier combinations. The use of M-LOK negative space attachment slots makes the front end super light and agile, and despite its length, the SA-P14 can be swiftly manipulated easily, ideal for modern shooting doctrine.Also pre-installed on either side of the handguard are 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for M-LOK, allowing you to run 20mm accessories on the sides, reposition the rails to any of the otherM-LOK slots or remove them entirely for a sleeker look.
Close to the receiver, the handguard has what appears to be QD sling sockets on either side. In our tests, we found these sockets to be non-functional, at least with the QD swivels we had handy. If you plan to use a QD two-point sling setup with the SA-P14, we recommend using the QD sling sockets built into the pre-installed SAAS Angled Foregrip or those at the front of the handguard, as these are fully functional.
As we come to the receiver of the SA-P14, we can take note of its familiar M4/AR-15 style layout, making it an easy transition in terms of training if you’re already accustomed to running an AR platform in-game. The charging handle is an extended example, positioned at the top rear of the receiver, which can be pulled back to reveal the rotary HOP-up unit, known by Specna as the “Magnus” HOP-up chamber.
A rotary design with the “Helium” HOP-up bucking pre-installed, the MagnusHOP-up unit is the latest design for the M4/AR-15 AEG and is known for allowing finer increments of adjustment for more precise HOP-up application, and holding its setting for longer under the vibrations of full-auto fire. This HOP-up unit is paired with a steel 6.02mm tightbore inner barrel, giving the SA-P14 spot-on accuracy right out of the box, with little left to improve!
The fire selector is of the standardM4/AR-15 layout, with a 3-position selector switch located above the pistol grip on the left side, offering safe, semi-auto and full auto. The selector has a 90-degree throw between each fire mode, allowing the control to be used swiftly while minimising the chances of accidentally knocking the selector out of place. Being equipped with either the ASTER II™ or HAL¹ MOSFET, these fire modes can be programmed with a wide variety of alternatives, from burst mode to binary trigger and more!
The Specna Arms SA-P14 PRIME™ features a skeletonised flat trigger. This enhances the military aesthetic of the AEG and complements the modernity of the rest of the Airsoft rifle, not to mention the easily slappable design, perfect for snappy double taps in semi-auto. The pistol grip features diamond checkering on either side and a linear texture on the front and back, providing excellent gripping qualities for both gloved and ungloved users. As with most M4/AR-15 AEGs, this grip is compatible with aftermarket M4/AR-15 AEG grips, ideal for customisation addicts!
The magazine release is located on the magazine well on the right side and is well within reach of the trigger finger for right-handed users. This mag catch is right-hand optimised but can be used by lefties as well with a bit of practice. The right side of the upper receiver has the usual M4/AR-15 features, including a mock forward assist button, mock brass deflector and the dust cover which conceals the mock bolt and HOP-up adjuster.
At the rear of the receiver, we are treated to an ambidextrous sling plate which offers two sling points on the left side and one on the right. The sling plate is ideal for single-point slings, but can also be paired with a front sling mount if you prefer a two-point sling setup. Being constructed from steel allows the sling plate to take the weight of the SA-P14 easily, and provides confidence that the plate will never fail and dump your gorgeous rifle into the dirt.
Following the sling plate, we come to the 6-position M4/AR-15 buffer tube, which is constructed from aluminium for a great balance of strength, realism and low weight. The stock of the SA-P14 is mounted over the buffer tube and features a rubberised cheekpiece for greater comfort, a thick rubber butt plate with aggressive gripping textureand a QD sling socket on either side, both of which are fully functional. The stock has 6 positions of adjustment, making it suitable for any body type or loadout and includes a quick-detach butt plate for easy access to the battery compartment.
Internally, theSpecna Arms SA-P14PRIME™ has a lot to boast about. The gearbox shell spine hasbeen reinforced to ensure that it doesn’t break, this is a well-known fault with V2 gearboxes, and it is good to see that Specna Arms has addressed this issue and taken matters into its own hands to make sure that it won’t be a problem with this premium line of PRIME™ AEGs.
Inside the reinforced shell, we find a plethora of premiumparts such asCNC 16:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm J-CAGE bushings, a reinforced piston with a full rack of steel teeth, a reinforced tappet plate for reliable feeding, and a CNC aluminium piston head, cylinder head and nozzle for maximum long-term durability. The cylinder is also CNC machined from steel, as is the spring guide.
To match these parts, we also find Specna Arms Dark Matter Brushless High-Speed Motor. This insane component gives theSA-P14a truly insane rate of fire when on full auto, and the brushless design ensures that it won’t overheat as easily, even after long periods of constant full auto.
Gate ASTER II Bluetooth™
The Gate ASTER II is one of the most advanced ETU/MOSFET systems on the market, granting the user endless shooting customisation based on their preference. It connects to the GCS (Gate Control Station) app via Bluetooth®;this is where the vast range of settings can be adjusted to make this assault rifle perfect for your play style.
It supports the high rate of fire of the SA-P14 PRIME™ and reduces the overheating and wear on internal components, plus, the trigger sensitivity and pre-cocking can be adjusted, so you can be sure that you are always first to fire in a duel. This nifty MOSFET also allows you to program fire modes to replace semi and full auto with a range of options, including burst modes of various durations and binary trigger.

The HAL¹ ETU is ideal for skirmishers who prefer the simple life, with improved trigger response and alternative fire modes on the side! The HAL¹ adds a whole lot of functionality into the mix, with programmable fire controls,6 levels of pre-cocking adjustment and 5 levels of trigger sensitivity adjustment, exactly what you need to get the most out of the PRIME build without overcomplicating things.
