Description
10/31/24 – This is a super rare Colt Government Model 1911 that was part of a small contract order by the French Government in 1915-16, and is the first we have offered!Only 5,000 examples were ordered, originally for officers but ultimately they went to the Tank Crewmen and have a low survival rate, while the remaining examples are generally in somewhat rough condition. This example doesn’t have major bluing loss, mostly high point wear, but does have a notable patina throughout and also shows oxidation.Barrel is marked with only a ‘P’ externally.Listing includes a decent shoulder holster.Pistol is in the proper serial range for French contract examples, and is accompanied by a Colt Archive letter confirming the shipment information.
