11/5/24 – For sale is a US Model 1863 Rifled Musket made under contract by Samuel Norris and William T. Clement in 1864. To support the production of muskets for the US army. The musket is in good condition for its age without any glaring blemishes to note. The metal is well worn and has a nice layer of patina throughout. There are some spots of prickling visible but none of it is deep. There is a small crack next to the trigger guard on the right side. Behind the receiver tang is an arsenal repair. An inspection cartouche is visible on the left side above the trigger but it is very faint. The lock plate is stamped with the US Eagle and “S.N. & W.T.C. For Massachusetts.” The bore is dark with visible rifling but there is surface rust visible. The bayonet and scabbard are in great condition and the frog has a “Mass” Medallion to match the rifle. THe leather is worn but free of tears or breaks.
