Description
12/3/24 – For sale is a Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor rifle made in 1890. The rifle sports the uncommon ramrod bayonet. The rifle is in nice condition overall and has a metal pistol grip installed meant for marksmanship and target shooting. There is also a sight hood installed. The metal finish is dark and free of pitting but there is a layer of patina throughout. There are remnants of old surface rust on the left side of the barrel below the rear sight. The stock is structurally sound and free of any cracks or breaks. There is an inspection cartouche and the date 1890 stamped on the left side. The bore is fairly bright with great rifling but there are spots of pitting about 5 inches from the muzzle. The rifle comes with a socket bayonet and scabbard marked “NGP” on the belt loop.
