Description
12/2/24 – This is a scarce and interesting Ithaca / Colt 1911A1. It has a Colt frame from World War I era with X-prefix serial number. These guns are reported to have been examples whose serial number was rendered illegible. They were arsenal refinished at the Springfield Armory and given a new serial number with X-prefix so that they wouldn’t be duplicates. This one has a WW2-era Ithaca slide and a parkerized WW2-era High Standard barrel. Fitted with reddish plastic grips. It comes with its arsenal “craft box” (matching-numbered), original packaging (dated 1958), and one magazine. The gun shows virtually no finish loss – just a few tiny dings at the back right of the slide. Mint bore.
