10/31/24 – This is good example of a WW2 Ersatz Style 7.65 holster. This holster is constructed out a multilayered material designed to imitate leather, the closure strap is leather. The holster remains pliable in overall good condition. The belt loop is made out of leather, there is a small tear top right corner. The holster’s stitching is still strong, with the exception of a couple stitches missing from the closure strap. Ersatz items were made toward the end of the war, Ersatz being German for substitute. As leather became increasingly scarce, alternative materials were sought out and put in use.
